We were always going to paint the main rooms and our plan was to take the carpet up from the downstairs rooms and have the original boards sanded. When the carpet was lifted we saw the floorboards were not in great condition and the kitchen was half chipboard. Coupled with the fact that floorboards can be drafty, we decided to lay parquetry. We ended up with plantation Oak boards.
